Student Services - Code of Conduct

The School believes that a student's character and personality is moulded through discipline. Therefore, this code of conduct is formulated to inculcate in him / her a sense of responsibility, respect for rules and regulations and make him/her aware of his/her duties as a student. To facilitate smooth administration, students must abide by the following rules.

General Code of Conduct

  • Regularly attend all “OPEN DAY” sessions, P.T.A. meetings etc. This gives parents an opportunity to discuss their child’s progress. Teachers will not be available for drop-in conferences before or after school.
  • The school strongly encourages families to schedule vacations and trips during school holidays. It is very difficult, if not impossible to make up work missed during an extended absence
  • For safety seasons, the Vidyani Staff must know the whereabouts of all visitors to the school, at all times. All visitors are required to check in at the front office only.
  • If you plan to withdraw your ward from the school, please notify the office staff as well as your child’s class teacher atleast one week in advance, to enable us to prepare the grades, School leaving certificate and other required records.
  • Our office staff works very hard to keep students records absolutely correct. This can only be accomplished with your help. We need to have accurate up-to-date information available on your child’s information card, in order to contact you in an emergency.
  • Your ward must return all library books before the last day at school. He/she will have to pay for loss/damage to books.
  • If your ward wants to get his/her forms attested from the school office, he/she should deposit it in the school office and may collect it on the third day from the office.
  • We request parents not to send sweets/gifts to the school on your ward’s birthday. Instead, we would appreciate if a book is gifted to the library.
  • If you wish to engage a Vidyani teacher for tuition, you are requested to take prior permission from the Principal. However, the school does not encourage private tuitions.
  • “Tuition Fees” cover the cost of providing instruction for normal curriculum including most games, internal school examinations, use of the library, medical inspection, and certain school publications. Other fees are charged separately which cover cost of meals, additional academic and co-curricular activities; value added programs, costumes, certain stationery etc. Other expenses incurred by the student during the year, such as external exam fees, career aptitude tests, use of photocopiers, school outings, and certain textbooks / journals shall be paid as extra by the student concerned . Damage or loss of School Property by the Student also shall be paid as an extra.
  • The School Management and the Principal welcome and appreciate constructive criticism and suggestions (preferably in writing) if made in the right manner and spirit. Hower, interference in the daily running of the school will not be appreciated.
  • Parents authorize the Principal and staff to whom the supervision of pupils has been delegated while in local parents to take and/or authorize in good faith all decisions that safeguard and promote the welfare and proper education of the Students. Parents consent to such physical contact as may be lawful, appropriate and proper for teaching and appropriate to provide comfort to a pupil in distress or to maintain safety and good order. (Corporal punishment is not used). As the school provides first aid facilities only, parents consent also to emergency medical treatment (including general anesthetic) at a private hospital where certified by a doctor to be necessary for the safety of the student and if a parent cannot be contacted in time. Every effort would be made to contact a parent in such circumstances. Parents consent to the conduct of routine medical examinations by the School Doctor.
  • The Principal must be notified in writing immediately of any court orders or situations of risk in relation to a student for whom any special safety precautions may be needed. A parent may be excluded from school premises if the Principal, acting properly, considers such exclusion to be in the best interests of the student or of the School.
  • The school has insured all students under a “Students’ Safety Insurance Policy”. The school’s liability is restricted to the limit and the interpretation of coverage by the Insurers. All other insurances are the responsibility of parents. The school is not the agent of the parents for any purpose related to insurance.
  • The school shall notify parents if a student needs extra support or needs to be referred to an educational psychologist for a formal diagnosis. The school has Counsellors and is able to advise parents as to how they may, at their own expense, obtain specialist advice or specialist support; but the school staff are not qualified to make a medical diagnosis of conditions such as those commonly referred to as dyslexia or other learning difficulties. Parents will be asked to withdraw a pupil if, in the opinion of the Principal, the School cannot provide adequately for a pupil’s special educational needs.
  • The School reserves all rights and interests in any intellectual property rights arising as a result of the actions of a pupil in conjunction with any member of its staff and/or other pupils at the school for a purpose associated with the school. Any use of such intellectual property rights by a pupil is subject to the terms of a license to be agreed prior to the use between the pupil, the pupil’s parents and the school. The school will allow the pupil’s role in creation/development of intellectual property to be acknowledged. Photographs of student/s will be used in maintaining school records, and/or in the promotion of the school programmes in newspapers, slide shows, or other media.
