A stride towards a fit India!

The Power Puff band of Vidyani students and staff turned out enthusiastically in large numbers for Vadodara Marathon 2020, as indeed we do every year!

Ms. Swarupa K., Academic Incharge, stole the show by clinching the 2nd position in the Senior Citizen group in the 21 Kms. category while Teachers Madhu Sehgal and Pratima Rathore were awarded medals for completing the race. Also, commendable were the efforts of the 10 Kms. race participants led from the front by Principal Dr. Archana Mishra! Archana ma’am was accompanied by Incharges Suni Sreenivas, Chhaya Jaiswal and Manju Joshi and a team of 21 teachers in her effort to demonstrate to students the importance of always remaining fit n fine!

"It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver", said Mahatma Gandhi and following this principle, Vidyanians, led by their Principal, had turned up en masse early on the morning of January 5 to take part in the run and thereby promote the idea of a Fit India. Thus went a Sunday morning well dedicated to fitness and health!

Vaidehi Dhaiphule (VIIB) claimed the Gold Medal in the State Level Badminton Champoionship (U-14) on November 27.

Martial Arts

Bhagyesh Shinde (IIIE) clinched the 3rd position and received a cash prize of Rs. 1000 in the District level U -14 Judo Competition organised on September 26 while Aarav Patel (IIIC), sealed the 3rd spot in the Zonal Level Karate Competition on September 30.


The Navrachana Vidyani U-14 Girls Football Team established their sway at the top after defeating Tejas School in the Finals of the Vadodara City Football Tournament on October 2. To add to their jubilation, the Championship Trophy came with an added bonus in form of the players receiving a cash prize of Rs. 3000 each!

‘Checkmate King’ Vandan Thakar (IVA) continued his purple patch by bagging the Championship Trophy in the Grand Chess Championship Open tournament (U-9 category) organised by Shanti Asiatic School, Ahmedabad, over December 14 and 15. Maintaining his winning streak, Vandan again came in 1st in the U-12 and 3rd in the U-15 category in the 1st Festival Chess Tournament organized by Bridge Chess Academy and Bhagyashree Chess Academy on January 5.

Another chess mastermind, Kiyan Lalwani (IIC) was the 1st Runners-up (U-7 category) in the Dr. A.M Raval Memorial Trophy Chess Tournament on November 24. He also came in 3rd (U-7 category) in the Chessmate Academy Championship held at Surat on December 1. Kudos to the li’l geniuses for their masterly moves!

And the game, set and match goes to …

Jevin Kanani (VIIB) displayed some fine serves to emerge as the winner at the U-14 AITA Tennis Tournament Talent Series organised by Big Service Tennis Academy from January 18-24. Then, he again smashed his way to victory in the U-14 Boys Single and Double categories at AITA Tennis Tournament Talent Series organised by Greenwood Sports Academy Rajkot on February 3.

Shuttler Vaidehi Dhaiphule (VIIB) too showcased her talent in Badminton to clinch the Runners-up Trophy (U- 13 category) and a cash prize of Rs. 2800 in the Yonex Sunrise All Gujarat State Badminton Championships 2019 held under the aegis of Gujarat Badminton Association at Surat over October 3 to 6. She again won the Runners-up Trophy (U-15 Doubles category) in the Baroda District Badminton Tournament held at Bal Bhavan from February 10 to 16.

Neel Sane (VIIIB) was the winner of the Men’s singles in the Captains Cup Badminton Tournament 2020 (13-19 yrs) held at Gaekwad Baroda Golf Club (GBGC) on January 24th. He also won the Silver Medal in the Boys U-17 Doubles category in the Open Baroda Badminton Tournament held at Bal Bhavan from February 10 to 16.

And they made tracks to victory!

Jaskaran Grewal (VIIIC) zoomed past other athletes to secure the 1st spot in the 200 mts. Race and the 2nd in 100 mts. At the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports Athletics Championship, Vadodara 2019 held over October 3 to October 5. Vansh Kansara (VID) participated in the VNM Khel Utsav 2020 held from January 9 to 11 and won a Bronze Medal in the Long Jump event in the U-12 Boys category. Great show Jaskaran and Vansh!

The martial arts experts

Laksha Patel (VD) won the Champion’s Trophy at the 16th National Taekwon-Do ITF Championship 2019 organized by Rajasthan Taekwon-Do Federation over December 29 to 31.

Vrushti Sanghvi (IVC) won a Gold Medal in team Kata at the Republic Cup National Shotokan Karate Championship held on February 2. She also won a Bronze Medal in individual Karate category at the same event.

Karate kid Aarav also won the Bronze Medal in the Brown and Black belt category at the Chief Minister Cup Shitoryu Open Karate Champioship- 2020 organized by Shitoryu Karate Do Association of Gujarat. The high-powered fighter then went on to secure the 1st place in Kumite and 3rd in Kata at the 15th Inter-dojo Karate Championship 2019 organized by All India Kam-Zen-Ryu Karate-Do Association. Truly, these Vidyanians have upped their self-defence quotient to a new level!!!

And finally, Misri Shah (VIII B) secured the 3rd spot in Gujarat State Mallakhambh Competition held on 14th February and she has also been selected for the Nationals to be held in Andhra Pradesh.

The Checkerboard Champ!

The undisputed champion of the checkmate game, Vandan Thakar (4A), with his masterly moves, tops the chart of the Vidyani achievers as he grabbed almost every prestigious chess title that came his way!
3rd position and a cash prize of Rs. 2000 in the Chess in Lake city Open FIDE Rating Rapid Chess Tournament 2019(U-10) held at Udaipur over September 14 and 15.

1st prize in the U- 11 Boys Chess Tournament organized by the Chess Association of Vadodara and Kabir Sports Academy on July 14, Winner’s title again at the 'Alkapuri Gymkhana Festival Chess Tournament'(U-9) held on June 30, 3rd spot in two National Level tourneys, the 33rdNational Open Chess Championship (U-9) held at Ahmedabad from August 3 to 11 and the 2nd RCPA All India Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament (U-9) held at Rajkot from August 13 to 18.

1st position and a cash prize of Rs. 700 at the VMC VSPF Open Vadodara Chess Tournament (U-9) organised by Vadodara Chess Association on September 3.

Dhanvi Kale (7C), maintaining her track record in Lawn Tennis, continues to ace her on-court opponents with her countless match winning performances!!

A straight drive to success!

Ansh Patel (11Gen.) has certainly been going places in the cricketing arena and his masterful performances may soon see him headed towards the national stage!

Astounding performance in the State Level Vijay Merchant Trophy Tournament ensured he was selected for BCCI’s Zonal Cricket Academy Camp at Rajkot (June 24 to July 18)!!
His excellent figures at the Camp secured him a spot in the team for the Inter-Zonal matches in Bangalore (August 19 to September 4) where Ansh surpassed others by becoming the highest wicket taker in all over India!
Now he’s finally back in school after a stint at the U-16 India Camp (September 8- September 30) at the National Cricket Academy in Bellary, Karnataka.


Kripa Khanvilkar (8B) represented Gujarat in the U-14 National Football Tournament held at Odisha. It was for the first time that four girls from Vadodara played for the State and certainly Kripa did her bit in taking Team Gujarat to the Semi- Finals!
Our Socceroo certainly did prove her mettle at the National Level!

Basket ball

Vidyani U -12 Boys Basketball Team players displayed grit and teamwork to become Champions in the 9th Olympia Summer Sports Festival-2019 organised by Vibgyor High School from April 29th to May 3. Also, Shivang Nair (VIC) won the 'Best Player of the Tournament' title for his outstanding show throughout the tourney!


On July 17, the Navrachana Vidyani U-19 Girls team lifted the Champion's Trophy and triumphed at the Zonal level in the Volleyball tournament organized by the District Sports Office.

Karate kids

Jessel Jograna (6B) clinched the Gold Medal in Karate and the Bronze in Katha while Purav Patel (6C) was awarded the Bronze Medal in Karate in the competition organized by the Karate and Kick-Boxing Sports Club in June.

From the Khel Mahakumbh arena …

The Navrachana Vidyani U-17 Girls Team bagged the Runners-Up position at the District Level Tournament organised by the District Sports Office on September 27.

Five of the foot jugglers have also been selected to represent Vadodara District at the U-17State Level Khel Mahakumbh Football Tournament – Nirja Shah (10C), Krushi Baria (11Sc.), Kesha Sharma (11Gen.), Kripa Khanvilkar (8B) and Stuti Shah (9D).


Aarav Patel (3C) won the 3rd position in the Zonal Level Karate Competition organised by the District Sports Office at on July 30 and Jessal Jagrana (6B) was the Runners-up at the District Level on September 23.
His win also ensured Jessal a place in the State Level competition.


The Navrachana Vidyani U-14 Girls Team won the Runners-up title while the U-14 Boys Team clinched the 3rd spot in the Zonal Level fixture on September 23.
Every player of the Girls team will receive Rs. 2000 cash prize each while the Boys team will get Rs. 1000 per member.


Prisha Ramrakhijani (4 D) swam her way to the 2nd position in 100m Freestyle swimming at the District Level competition on September 23 and has thus qualified to represent Baroda District at the State Level.


Chess champ Vandan Thakar (4A) was the Runners- up in the District Level event on September 23 and will move on to play at the State Level.

Lawn Tennis

While Jevin Kanani (7B) was declared Runners-up in the U-14 category, Dhanvi Kale (7 C) grabbed the 3rd position in the District Level Tournament organised by the District Sports Office on September 23.

Their sterling performance ensured that Jevin and Dhanvi were selected to play at the State Level.


Vaidehi Dhaiphule (7B) too won plaudits by coming in 3rd in the City Level Tournament (U-14).


Fleet-footed Jaskaran Grewal (8C) clinched the 1st spot in both the 100m and 200m races at the City Level on September 22.

Vadodara International Marathon 2019

Enthused Vidyanians of Classes VII to IX, accompanied by their Principal Dr. Archana Mishra and teachers, turned up by busloads on January 6 to participate in the 8th edition of the Vadodara Marathon which is spearheaded by our very own NES Chairperson Tejal Amin! The Navrachana Vidyani band was there to set the mood and cheer on the runners in the event which, besides encouraging citizens from all walks of life to adopt a fit and healthy lifestyle, also promoted social and civic causes like ‘Organ Donation’ and ‘No Plastic’.

This time round it was even more special for us because Academic Incharge Swaroopa Rani proved herself a leader both in and out of the school campus by winning a Gold Medal and Rs. 20,000 as prize money for coming in first amongst female runners in the 21 kms Half Marathon Senior Citizen category! But there were other staff members too in this endeavour to show the way to wellness to their students. Principal Dr. Archana Mishra, along with Incharge Suni Bhat, Counselor Falguni Shah and Teachers Pratima Rathore, Preyanka Jani, Madhu Sehgal, Vinaya Mishra, Uttara Sharma, Purvi Arora and Yamini Parikh, demonstrated their mettle by completing the 10 km segment, thereby evidencing their spirited enthusiasm to lead a fit and fine life!

Dhanvi Kale (VI C) was part of the victorious Vadodara team at the U-14 Girls State Level Tournament held in Ahmedabad on November 18 and19. Besides the Rs 5000 cash award, Dhanvi and will also receive Rs 4000/month from the govt for a year. And that's not all! She has also been selected to the camp for probables of the National School Games Lawn Tennis event!

Kick Boxing  
Geetansh Shah (VIII B) won the 2nd position in the U-14 Championship organised by the State School Games Federation on October 10. This was followed soon after by his top notch performance at the State Level Khel Mahakumbh tournament held in Ahmedabad on October 15 wherein Geetansh secured the 3rd spot!
The -17 Girls Team clinched the Runners-up spot on September 24 at the Inter-School District Level Tournament.

The U-14 and U-17 Girls Teams romped home to victory at the Zonal Level Tournament on September 26.

Kesha Sharma (XD) and Pushti Shah (XB) were selected to the Vadodara District Team to play at the State Level U-17 Girls Volleyball Tournament.
On October 10, Jaskaran Grewal (VII D) was 1st in 200m and 2nd in 100m at the City Level in the U-14 Boys category. Jaskaran was also selected to represent Vadodara District at the State Level.
In the U-11 Boys Ward Level Tournament, Vansh Kansara (V D) clinched the 3rd place in the 30 meter race on October 3.
Vidyani athletes simply blazed their way to the top in many events at the Ward Level Girls Athletics Competition conducted on October 4!
In the U-17 category, Nishtha Raje (XIID) was 1stin Shot put and also qualified for the Zonal Level in Discus throw.
Sprinters Vrushali Ranadive (XI C) came in 2ndin 200m and 3rd in 100m, Kanjani Soni (XID) was 2nd in 100m and 3rdin 200m and Khushi Patel (IXA) claimed the 2nd place in 400m besides qualifying for the Zonal Level in the 800m!
In the Junior group, Purva Pattankar (VIII C) bagged the 1st spot in 400m in the U-14 category while in the U-11 category, Vrushti Gandhi (IV D) was 3rd in Standing Broad Jump and Kaarvi Desai (IV B) was 3rd in the 30m race. Also, all the winners were selected to compete at the District Level.
38th Gujarat State Roller Skating Championship
Kavya Vaidya (IIC) participated in the contest held from November 18 - 22 at Ahmedabad. He bagged the Gold and Bronze medal in the 6 to 8 QUAD and QUAID categories respectively.

Teamwork made the dream work when the Vidyani spikers clinched the Runners-up Trophy in the tournament organised by Vadodara District Volleyball Association on February 10.

While Vandan Thakkar (III D) claimed the Champion’s Trophy and a 1 gram gold coin in the U-10 category at the Open Chess Tournament organised in Valsad on October 14, Aum Shah (I B) bagged a Gold Medal in the Chess Weekly Tournament organized by South Mumbai Chess Academy on January 20.
Smt. Usha Devi Gaekwad U-16 T20 cricket Tournament
The U-16 Vidyani cricketers claimed the Runners-up Trophy in the tournament while Karan Gandhi (XI Gen.) bagged the 'Man of the Series' title with his all-round performances and Pratham Vajifdar(X B) was felicitated as the 'Best Fielder of the Tournament'.
Meanwhile in the Interschool U-14 Boys Cricket tournament organised by the BRG Group, Team Vidyani set their seal on the Runners-up Trophy.

Karate Champion
Het Shah (II B) participated in Open Karate Championship-2019 on February 9 which was organized in memory of Late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He won the Silver medal in Fight and the Bronze Medal in Kata.
Vaidehi Dhaiphule (VI B) claimed the Championship Trophy in the Open Baroda Badminton Tournament organised at Bal Bhavan from February 18 to 24. She emerged as the winner for the second consecutive year in the Girls Doubles U-13 category and received a cash prize of Rs. 600 and a badminton kit for her superb performance!
Well done Vidyani sports icons!! Hope to see many more such good tidings in the future too!!

Roller Skating  
Kavya Vaidya (II C) participated in the ‘Warrior Invitational Open State Roller Skating Championship’ organized by Gujarat State Roller Skating Association from June 8 to 10. With his cool moves he nabbed the Gold Medal in Rink Race 3 and two Silver Medals in Rink Race 1 and 2.
Het Shah (II B) bagged the 3rd spot in Kata at the 9th Wado Independence Karate Do Championship 2018 organised by Wadoryu Karate-Do Federation of India on August 11 and 12. With his martial moves all in place and impeccably executed, Het was the top of the line in his Under-7 category!

September 18 saw the U-19 Boys Cricket Team claim the Championship Trophy in the tournament organised by the District Sports Office Vadodara. Team Vidyani beat Jay Ambe School in the Semi Final and Basil School in the Final on its way to the title and will next compete at the State Level tournament to be held at Jamnagar.

Vidyani’s Nishtha Raje (XII Gen.) had participated in the Junior Selection trial for West Zone Athletics Competition organised by the Gujarat Athletics Association on August 19 at Manjalpur Sports Complex.

Battling it out with 10 other aspirants, her impeccable ‘power position’ helped her to clinch the 3rd place enabling her to glide her way into the chosen few!

Congratulations Nishtha for this power packed performance and hope you cast the same spell in the competition as well !

Spin to win …  

Navrachana Vidyani student Tilak Parikh of Grade 11(Gen) participated in the U-19 Boys Table Tennis Inter School Selection Tournament organized by District Sports Organization at Baroda High School – ONGC on July 23.

His impressive shots with the ping pong helped him to nab a place in Baroda U -19 Boys’ Team which will participate at the state level.

Such ace sportsmen have always done the School proud …

Football fever in the air ...  

The Navrachana Vidyani Under-17 Girls team gained a 2-0 victory against the Vibgyor girls at the Invitation Football Tournament organized by the Baroda District Football Association.

The win secured Team Vidyani a berth in the Semi Final line-up and we wish them the best for the crucial match ahead!


A crackerjack performance …  
On January 18 the U-19 Boys Cricket Team of Navrachana Vidyani Vidyalaya participated in the U-19 Hield Shield Cricket Tournament which was organized by Sports Authority of Gujarat at the Polo Ground. The students with their indomitable performance won by 25 runs defeating Utkarsh Vidyalaya Way to go boys, keep the Vidyani flag flying high!!

Navrachana Vidyani Cricket squad (boys) were the first Runners -Up at the Smt. Ushadevi Gaekwad Under 16 Inter School T20 Cricket Tournament organised by Anshuman Gaekwad School of Cricket on December 18. They achieved this feat competing against 12 teams from across Vadodara and the icing on the cake was Prabhsimran Singh Sekhon (XI) clinching the title of the 'Man of the Series'. After catapulting their way into the Leaugue round, the Navrachana Vidyani Vidyalaya Under 17 Football team won both the League matches on November 16. While Aayush Banker (X B) was adjudged the 'Best Player of the Match' in the 1st League match, the same title was conferred upon Dev Patel (XA) in the 2nd match. We wish the team the best of luck for the next match and hope they achieve their desired 'goal'!

The Khel Mahakumbh arena
At the Ward Level Athletics Meet, in the Girls group, Akshi Ahuja (VII C)won the 2nd place in the U-14 shot put while Purva Pattankar (VII A)was 3rd in the U-14 600m race. The Boys too made their mark with Neel Shah (III B) Runners-up in Standing Broad Jumping the U-9 category, Vansh Kansara (IVB) 2nd in the U-11 50m and Jaskaran Grewal (VI A) winning the 3rd position in both the 100 m and 200 m races in theU-14 group!
In the Inter-District Athletic Meet, Vidyanians hit the mark once again at the medal stakes! While in the U-9 Girls category, Kaarvi Desai (III D) won the Gold Medal in the 30m race, Vrushali Ranadive (X C) scored a double whammy in the U-17 Girls group by coming in 1st in both the 100m and 200m races! Kanjini Soni (X D) too was among the winners by winning the 3rd position in both while Nishtha Raje (11 Gen.) was 2nd in Shot Put in the Open Age Category (Above-17). Further, these four athletes have done us really proud by having been selected to represent Vadodara District at the State Level.


The Navrachana Vidyani sportspersons continued their winning streak with the U-17 and U-14 Girls Volleyball Team emerging Champions at the District Level. The Teams thus qualified to represent Vadodara at the all-Gujarat State Level Tournament.

Proving that girls were also equally good at Football, Kesha Sharma (IX)was selected to the U-14 Girls Team of the Baroda District Football Association.
Ishwa Desai (XII Gen.) was 1st in both 400m and 200m besides clinching the 2nd spot in the 100m butterfly event in the Vadodara District Swimming competition. Ishwa has truly proved that she is in her element in the water!
2ndWado India National Karate Championship 2017
Martial Arts champion Prisha Ramrakhiyani (II A) won the Merit Award at the competition organised by the International Wado Federation.
Dhanvi Kale (V D) was declared the winner in the Under 12, Under 10 as well as Under 14 Categories of Tennis at the invitation tournament organised by Sports Complex, Manjalpur, from September 23 to September 25. Congratulations, Dhanvi for a wonderful performance.... and they do it again ! Kashish Surana (8 D) and Purva Oza (9 D) represented Baroda in the 'State Basketball Meet' at Limadi from September 29 to October 2 and both, the Boys' and the Girls' teams, bagged the Championship. Moreover, Kashish Surana has been selected to play Nationals at Didhwaana, Rajasthan from October 6 to October 15. Well done champs! And, all the best Kashish for the forthcoming games.
62nd National School Games
Vidyani's Sports Captain, Ishwa Desai (XI Gen.) did the School proud by securing All India Rank-5 at the Games organized by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and held at Rajkot on November 28. Ishwa participated in the 200m Butterfly Swimming event and competed against 64 participants from all over India.

October 16 saw the Navrachana Vidyani Volleyball Teams (U-14 and U-17 Girls) claim Champion status at the tournament organised by the Sports Authority of Gujarat.
Mayor Cup Senior (Boys) Knockout Football
Team Vidyani clinched the Runners - Up position in the Tournament organised by Vadodara Municipal Corporation with the support of Baroda District Football Association. The Vidyani boys competed against 16 teams and put up a tough fight to justify their spot in the Finals.

Invitational Basketball Tournament
The Navrachana Vidyani Under-14 Girls brigade dribbled and dunked their way to the coveted Silver Medal at the event organized by Billabong High International School. Competing against 6 schools, Team Vidyani clinched the Runners-up spot with Kashish Surana(VII D) also claiming the 'Best Player of the Tournament' award.

VM Queens' Neon Run
The Vidyani female staff enthusiastically turned up on Sunday, November 27, to paint the city neon pink in the company of thousands of other women on the occasion of Vadodara's First Queens' Neon Run!

The 5 km run was organized exclusively for girls and women by Vadodara International Marathon to 'celebrate the Queen hidden in every woman by showcasing her inner strength and outer glow' and aimed to promote awareness regarding Breast Cancer and to encourage people to work towards making Vadodara a Safe, Smart and Clean city. "The active involvement from women reflects this city's culture. Such events not only create a lot of energy, but also awareness about women's issues, including their health. The enthusiasm was incredible," said royal family member, Radhika Raje Gaekwad, who flagged off the Run.

Thus, uniquely, participants simultaneously ran for a social cause and had their share of fun too, flaunting shades of neon!

6thVadodara International Marathon 2017
The usually languorous Sunday mornings got to witness a different sight in the wee hours of February 5 at the Navlakhi Ground! Thousands of Barodians came together to participate in Vadodara's first AIMS (Association of International Marathon and Distance Races) certified Full Marathon, along with shorter distances. Uniquely, it was also the nation's First Cashless Full Marathon and was flagged off by Hon. Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijaybhai Rupani.

If professional and amateur runners, including many from abroad, ran the Marathon, the Divyangs too displayed remarkable fervor amid resounding cheers! It was truly a "Citizens' Marathon", with participation of people from all walks of life, from youngsters to senior citizens. As Smt. Tejal Amin, Chairperson, Vadodara Marathon, said, "The response was amazing".

With such infectious enthusiasm in the air everywhere, how could Vidyanians be left out? And so, students from Classes VI to IX, accompanied by their teachers and many parents, joined in to make the 'MY CITY MY MARATHON!' tagline a reality as they were all excited to run for their city and thereby also show solidarity with the Marathon's vision of a fit and healthy life for Vadodara citizens.
12th Intersport Youth Football and Basketball Festival
  Nine Vidyani sports enthusiasts, Darsh Patel-VI A, Jal Modi & Yagna Patel-VI B, Path Modi-VI C, Kushal Patel-VIIB, Manav Israni &V aibhav Nair-VIII A, Parva Oza-VIII D and Vaibhav Patel-IX D formed part of the Navrachana Sports Academy contingent that played matches in the Festival held at Budapest, Hungary from July 13 to 25.
10th Maharaja Dr. Karni National Shooting Championship

Shashwat Shah (VIIB) won a Bronze Medal in the National Level Shooting competition organised by the Bikaner Marksmen Rifle Club, Bikaner. The competition was held at the Jaipur Oaese Range from July 7-10 and was witness to the shooting skills of more than 1500 participants from all over India.

Under-25 Invitation Men’s Basketball Tournament
  Hitanshu Patel (XIGen.) was a part of the Baroda District Team in this Tournament organized by the Ahmedabad Basketball Club in association with Gujarat State Basketball Association. The layers, coached by Mr. J. P. Singh (Internationally qualified coach from the Basketball Federation of India who has also coached the National Basketball team) locked horns with 12 other teams from Surat, Ahmedabad, Anand, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Mumbai and Indore to make their way to the victory stand. They brought home the Championship Trophy, Certificates and a cash price of Rs. 30,000/ for the Team.
District Level Sports Competitions - Organized by the District Sports Office (DSO)
  August 27 saw the Navrachana Vidyani Volleyball Team (U-14 Girls) get the 3rd position in the Volleyball Tournament. Additionally, 3 of the Team members, Kesha Sharma (VIIID), Pushti Shah (VIIID) and Jaanya Shah (VIB), will also play at the State Level as part of the Baroda District Team.
  To add to the cheers, Kanjani Soni (IXD) clinched the 1st spot in the Long Jump (U-17 Girls) event on August 29 and has also been selected to represent Baroda District at the State Level.
Marathon Relay Race
On August 28, the U-18 team of Mansi Singh (XI Gen.), Disha Motwani (VIII C) and Khushi Patel & Nirja Shah (VII A) won the Second Runners-up position in the 10 Km Relay Race organized by the Vadodara International Half Marathon (VIHM) committee. Speaking to the Times Of India, VIHM Chairperson Tejal Amin said, “It was a fitting celebration of the National Sports Day and Barodians displayed their sporting spirit by turning up in large numbers. VIHM also donated Rs 5 lakh to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation for Swachhata Mission”.
Khel Mahakumbh 2016
  This time round, Vidyani hosted the Basketball and Football segments of the Government of Gujarat 's sports extravaganza.
  Vidyanians were Runners-up in the Under-16 Boys and the Second Runners-up in the Under-13 Girls categories respectively in the Khel Mahakumbh 2016 Basketball Tournament.

Hitanshu Patel (X C) and Keya Patel (VIII C) were part of the victorious Vadodara Teams that won the Under-16 Boys and Under-16 Girls Inter-District Volleyball Tournaments respectively and were subsequently selected to play at the State Level.
Team Vidyani also won the Runners-up position out of 31 teams in the fray in the Under-16 Boys Football Tournament.
Also, Smit Patel (VII C) and Aayush Banker (VIII A) were part of Team Vadodara that won the Championship in the Inter-District Football Tournament.

  The Under-13 Vidyani Girls Volleyball Team attained Champion status at the 'Ward Level'.
  Pushti Shah and Kesha Sharma (VII D) represented Vadodara in the Inter-District Volleyball Tournament.
  Charles Vanpariya (XI Sc) won the Second Runners-up position in the Above-16 (Under-50 kg) category in Judo.
In the U-13 Girls Athletics category, Kanjani Soni (VIII D) was the Champion at the District Level competition in the High Jump event while Vrushali Ranadive (VIII C) won the 1st position in the 100 m race at the Ward Level.  
Vadodara International Half Marathon (VIHM) 2016

The Vadodara International Half Marathon provides opportunities for both amateurs and professional athletes and is the most celebrated sporting event of Vadodara City. In its 5th edition this year, it also provides a platform for a wide cross section of citizens of all ages to come together for sports and a common civic/social cause. Accredited to the Association of International Marathon and Distance Races (AIMS), the Vadodara Marathon is the recipient of the prestigious AIMS Gold Medal for 'smallest city, biggest Marathon'.

The event was flagged off on February 7 by the Hon. Chief Minister, Smt. Anandiben Patel, and total registrations exceeded 30, 000 with runners from neighbouring cities as well as National and International Level athletes signing up for the event. Significantly, VIHM aimed at getting more youngsters run in the marathon in order to instill a sense of pride and belonging to the city as also to motivate people across all age groups to increase their fitness levels.

Thus, the wee hours of that Sunday morning saw sports minded Vidyanians of Classes VI to XI, accompanied by their Teachers and many parents, turn up at Navlakhi Ground in large numbers to participate in the Marathon. Inspired by NES Chairperson (who is also the Chairperson of the VIHM Organizing Committee) Tejal Amin's clarion call to make pursuit of fitness a way of life, the youngsters expressed their determination to set off on the road to a more healthy life by running in the Marathon.

Fat or thin, fit is definitely in!


Laksha Patel (I A) won the Gold Medal and a Merit Certificate in the Shitoryu Open Karate. Championship 2016 was organized by the Shitoryu Karate Do Association of India.

Prerit Patel (III D) was awarded the Gold Medal in Kata and the Silver Medal in Kumite in the 6th Independence National Open Karate Championship 2015 organised by the Wadoryu Karate Do Federation of India. Earlier, he had also won the Silver Medal in the 11th Inter dojo Karate Championship 2015 conducted by the All India Kan-Zen-Ryu Karate Do Association.

Smt. Ushadevi Gaekwad Under-16 T20 Cricket Tournament

Organised by Anshuman Gaekwad School of Cricket, the Vidyani boys won the Runners-up Trophy and were commended for playing the game in the true spirit of sportsmanship and adopting a disciplined approach in all their fixtures throughout the Tournament.

Kudos for an all round display of fair play and fine cricketing skills!


Dev Patel (VIII A) was part of the State Team that participated in the National Level School Games Federation of India (SGFI) Tournament held at Bhilai, Chattisgarh.

In the Under-16 Boys DSO Football Tournament organized by the District Sports Office (DSO), Vadodara, Team Vidyani was the Runners-up amongst 20 teams at the District Level.

Organised by Vibgyor High School, Vidyanians went home with the Runners-up Trophy in the Vibgyor Viva Under-12 Invitational Football Tournament 2016.

The Shri Rustom Patel Memorial Trophy Inter-School Under-13 Invitational Football Tournament saw the Vidyani boys emerge once again as Runners-up in a field of 12 teams in the Tournament organized by Rosary School.

  EightVidyani sports enthusiasts, Dev Patel (VIII A), BhavyaZaveri (VIII B), Panth Patel (VIII C), Jaimin Patel (VIII D), Urvish Patel (IX C) and Hitanshu Patel, ShreyRamchandani&ManavWarde (X D) formed part of the Navrachana Sports Academy contingent that played matches against teams from countries like Hungary, Ukraine, Romania, Columbia, etc. in the Festival held at Kaposvar, Hungary.
UK Cricket Tour 2015
  FiveVidyani budding cricketers toured UK as part of the Navrachana Sports Academy team that participated in the Invitation Cricket Tournament there.

On the Tour, besides being coached by English players and figuring in twenty over matches, Vraj Desai (VC), Geetansh Shah (VD), Het Shah (VIC), Rudra Desai (VIIIA) andRishabh Shah (VIII B) had the thrilling opportunity to interact with one of the legends of International cricket, former Pakistani player, SaqlainMushtaq. The budding Vidyani cricketers gained many valuable insights into the finer points of the game from the great sportsman himself!
U-14 Boys and Girls Football Tournament 2015
A total of 16 boys' and 7 girls' teams from various schools of Vadodara participated in the Tournament organized by the District Sports Office on the Vidyani ground. The competition was for selection to the Baroda District Team, and 3 Vidyani footballers – Dev Patel (VIII A), Sahaj Amin (VII B) and Jaimin Patel (VIII C) were selected to play at the District level.
