A Joyride to Mahabaleshwar
The memories of the trip to Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani are still fresh in the mind of the students of std VIII and IX, as they crawl back to their monotonous routine.

It was on 15th September ’11 that the students departed for their mesmerizing tour. They found the journey refreshing get away form the hectic school life. The twelve hours of the Ahimsa Express were exciting for the young minds .Later the three hours long bus trip landed the students at the Summer Haza, Panchgani. The resort had an enchanting beauty and after having lunch and some rest, they left for the suicide point. The deep valley took everyone’s breath away. Although it was foggy, the view was sight catching. The next day too had the same effect on the students as well as the teachers. The history of the Pratapgarh Fort marked the bravery of Chatrapati Shivaji. Then they headed to the Mapro Production Industry. The evening was spent in the company of loud music and the students stomped on the dance floor and after having dinner, they resided to their respective rooms. The last day started with a horse cart ride leaving a mark in the minds of the students. The horses strode majestically on the grounds of the second best plains of Asia, the Table Top. Finally it was the time to return. The students left with heavy hearts for Vadodara.

The Visit to Kumbalgarh , Haldighati and Udaipur

The trip to Kumbalgarh, Haldgahti and Udaipur was enjoyable and adventurous. We the students of 6th and 7th standard went for this glorious trip. This is the birth place of the great warrior Maharana Pratap.

We left to Kumbalgarh by train on 7th September, at night. After reaching Udaipur at 8:30 am we all were shifted to a bus which took us to Kumbalgarh. The drive was of 2 hours and the distance from Udaipur was 78 km. On reaching Kumbalgarh we saw many mountains, ponds, streams and lots of greenery all over the place. After that we all settled in the hotel. Mostly all of the students were in ‘Kumbal Castle’ and some were at another hotel named ‘The Haveli’. That afternoon we had lunch at ‘Kumbal Castle’.In the evening we 5:30 pm we went to the second great wall of the world. There was a fort too, built by great warrior Maharana Pratap and Maharaja Kumba. Later in the evening we saw the light show and ended our day with some tasty dinner at the hotel.

Next day after breakfast we went for trekking at the Arravali Range which is the oldest range. There are many streams, animal and around 500 species of birds and 1600 species of insects. We also visited on the villages in the Aravalli range and learned about the life in the village. We returned to our hotel for lunch and later went for swimming followed by campfire. At night before going to bed we packed our bags and prepared ourselves to visit Haldighat next morning.

Haldighati was at I hour drive form Kumbalgarh. We visited a museum at Haldighati and saw collection of many things used Maharana Pratap. We also saw the place where Maharana Pratap had died and the battle ground where he had fought a war with Maharaja Mansingh. After returning to Udaipur we saw Udaipur city palace built by Maharaja Udaysingh, from where we could have a view of the entire city of Udaipur. We also visited Saheliyon kin Bari, where we saw five fountains. Each fountain had a story behind it. On the way we saw Fatehsagar lake and returned to the hotel.

We reached Baroda on 11th September. I hope we have many such exciting trips.

‘God not only plays dice. He also sometimes throws the dice where they cannot be seen.’ -Stephen Hawking

The motto of YUVA has always been ‘Love, Affection and Care.’ This time, on 8th Oct, 2010, we the students of Vidyani as a part of School Unstoppable Project visited a Municipal School to spend few hours of our day with the children of that school. This time taking ‘Ban on Plastic Bag’ as our main issue; our preparations started by collection of newspapers from entire school. After days of announcements and collection, we gathered around 204 kg of newspapers.

After selling it, we got Rs. 1600. We gifted the school, a set of cricket equipments and footballs. After reaching there, we taught those students to make paper bags and even made them aware of the importance of ban of plastic bags.

As a thanks giving, they created pompoms, houses, lotuses, tree, etc out of paper and gifted us. We spent a quality time in that school. After spending such afternoon, we got a feeling that how lucky are we people that we are living in such a good surroundings.

Yuva Unstoppable@Vidyani

Yuva Unstoppable is a volunteer movement in 30 cities with over 60,000 Yuvaites who are helping 80 NGOs. It give the youth an opportunity to volunteer for 2 hours/week and inspire them to do random acts of kindness.

YUVA’s Vision: Make young people kinder.

Motto: “Young people are not useless, but used-less”

Activities: Provide educated young manpower to NGOs ranging from orphanages, handicapped children homes, to municipality schools. Yuva-ites help with education, hygiene and extra-curricular activities. It is also involved in activities that collect smiles such as Free Hugs campaign, buy ice-cream for policemen, help the servant with his dishes, etc.

YUVA @ Vidyani: YUVA have come up with a project of 5 months for the top 25 schools of the city, Vidyani Vidyalaya being a part of this prestigious project. A municipal school has been allotted to our school. 37 children of IX and XI std from our school went and interacted with the students of the municipal school and tried to make them happy and give them some joyous moments.

Every month has a drive associated with it. For the month of August it was the “Gift Giving Drive”, where new stationery materials were collected from classes VII-XII. These were taken to the municipal school by our students, and each child there was gifted a pencil, an eraser, a scale and a sharpener. During the gift giving drive the participants from our school taught the students to make greeting cards for their teachers. Teacher’s day being on the threshold, they made cards for their teachers. Our students went empty handed but came back with lots of love and affection. The sole aim of this driver was to share love that would bring students from urban and municipal schools together. Small acts of kindness, like a hug from us, a peck on the cheek or just the feeling that there’s someone to support them really had an impact on their minds.

The drive for August was a huge success. Collection, distribution, event management all were carried out enthusiastically and efficiently by our students. Our students were benefited by this project. They learnt to be more giving, compassionate and understood the need for team work. Such social services by the young generations will definitely take the country a long way.

Being a part of this initiative has touched the lives and souls of the participants and enriched them. One of our students was quoted saying that they might have shared the gifts but after the drive they all in some way, feel gifted.
