14th November, Chacha Nehru’s birthday, also celebrated as Children’s Day across India, was celebrated with great fervor at Vidyani. Dressed in colourful attire, the school wore a festive look as children flocked in from classes first to the tenth onto the ground to partake in the fun. The programme began with Ms. Indu enacting the role of a first timer to school and delivering a rhyme as beautifully and hesitatingly as a toddler would. Next, we had Ms.Meenakshi and Ms.Tasneem give solo performances to the mellifluous Rajasthani folk numbers of ‘Mahro Assi Kali ka Lehnga’ and ‘Morni Baga Ma’. The school choir, too, not to be left behind, sang to the tunes of Singham, Aye Khuda, Rubaroo etc. Swarit and Shantanu stole the show with their ‘Ek Chatur Naar’ duet. Ms. Indu, again, enthralled the students with an enticing performance on ‘Bum Bum Bole’ and an impromptu number by the trio of the school – Ms.Naina, Ms.Preyanka and Ms.Abhilasha on ‘Senorita’ to which Mr.Abdul added flavor by his extremely fluid steps, gave an open invitation to the students to join in and dance with their teachers. Ms.Sobita’s smooth anchoring added the required touch of frolic and spice to this fantastic programme. The day ended with a spectacular match between our ex-students and school team. Last but not the least; the students were treated to a sumptuous meal before their departure for home.
It is believed that time is the greatest factor that challenges and changes the course of history. Indian history, too, is witness to the multitude of transformations in due course. Its ancient texts written by great writers bear evidences that are hard to defy today. However, one fact that stands out accurately is the presence of common yet myriad hues of events and personalities which existed then and are present even in modern times.
Vidyani’s annual concert ‘Yugantar--------Ek Anant Pravah…’, has tried to portray the same in the slightly unconventional dance-drama theme. The core of the entire act lay in the fact that the complete event was one long episode epitomized via rhythmic narration, relevant songs, actions, add lips and even multimedia that add the required texture to an otherwise placid theme. The beautiful flow of the four yugas ---Satyug, Dwapar, Treta and Kalyug through the strength of Sant Valmiki and Ved Vyasa’s words in the Ramayana and Mahabharata respectively, gave it the required touch of spice. The more popular incidents extracted from both the epics, helped the actors connect with the sentiments of the audience. The bitter truth was firmly exposed when contextually the script and the actors bring the audience to the present scenario revealing that human traits are truly common irrespective of the era they are born in. Occurrences and happenings might differ but the consequential endings are more or less similar to us. Faces, whether in the past or the present, wear masks of the same demeanor. In these appalling circumstances, man searches for eternal truth fervently. What ‘man’ needs to know is that both the ‘timeless’ mythological heroes i.e. Rama and Krishna exist in each of us. The finale of the life of all ultimately rests with the fact that each of us is accountable to discover ‘truth’ within the inner recesses of our own minds. This is what the concert aimed to bring out.
Ms.Sudha Chandran, the well-known film and television personality, was the Chief Guest. She was overwhelmed with the fine synchronization, the flawless, rhythmic music, the poignant effect of the narration and the fact that the entire student body with a few enthusiastic parents was totally engrossed and involved in the concert. Overall, the concert had a profound message which was successfully passed across through to the audience.
Vande Mataram - Independence Day Celebration
Navrachana Vidyani Vidyalaya celebrated the 65th Independence Day on 15th August 2011 with immense pride and patriotism. The student body and quite a few parents turned out in large numbers to pay their respects to our great nation on this auspicious occasion. After a brief introduction about the contribution of our erstwhile national leaders towards the development of India, the Council President was called upon to unfurl the tricolour. This was followed by the melodious rendition of the national anthem, ‘Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyaara’ and ‘Saare Jahan Se Acchha’. The Headboy of the school, then, delivered a heart rending speech on the role of youth in nation building capacity. The programme concluded with the lilting performance of another patriotic song full with the fervor and flavour of the spirit of nationalism. Finally, sweets were distributed to one and all present on the occasion.

“The old order changeth, yielding place to new”.
The school has been putting earnest efforts to form the STUDENTS’ COUNCIL every year. This noble gesture was initiated this year also in the month of July, calling nominations for the various posts of students’ council. In a solemn ceremony conducted on the 30TH July 2011 the new.

The function began with a prayer song. After the initial introduction, the school band led the outgoing Student Council onto the stage, where after, the outgoing Head Boy and Head Girl gave a speech urging the new office bearers to be good leaders and to develop qualities of leadership. responsibilities in the right perspective. The ceremony concluded with
the singing of the School Song and the National Anthem.
The officer bearers for the Academic Year 2011–2012 are as follows:
Guru Purnima Celebration 2011-12
Guru Purnima is celebrated on Aashadi Purnima, also known as Vyaasa Purnima in the sacred memory of the great sage Vyaasa, the Adi Guru of the Hindu religion. Gurus are revered and honoured on this auspicious day i.e.15th July. At Vidyani, too, gurus were aptly honoured.
The programme was distributed into two halves; [first part for Stds.VII
–XII and second part for Stds.I –VI], with the first part having eminent
educationist Shri Rameshchandra Patel, the National Award winner for
the Best Teacher in 2000, as the Chief Guest. The programme began with
the rendition of a soulful song stating the role of the teacher in our
lives. The contemporary dance as well as the ballet illustrated the
importance of significance of the teacher in our works and lives.
Teachers who have spent 10 years of their lives in the service of the
institution were also felicitated by the Chief Guest. The keynote
address by the Chief Guest focused upon the importance of activities in
the teaching-learning process of the students. He also stated the value
of ‘true’ gurus in inculcating and imbibing learning to all children. A
truly heart – rendering song gave a final touch to the event.
The second function, too, bordered on the same lines with a couple of
additions. An enthralling and mesmerizing Ganesh Stuti was classically
performed by a student of Std.VIII. The Kala Aradhana awards, for those
students who had achieved General Proficiency in Activities for three
years in a row, were distributed to the winners. The event culminated
with the rendition of the National Anthem and distribution of shreephal
and roses to all the teachers.

Academic Prize Distribution 2010-11
“Winners never quit and quitters never win”
10th May, Tuesday dawned bright and beautiful for all, especially for those whose year-long hard work would be recognized and rewarded. Winners – both in the academic and activity arena waited in eager anticipation for the event to begin. The Annual Prize distribution assembly was bifurcated into two sessions—the primary and the secondary.
The school refectory bore a festive look as parents and relatives
thronged the area in large numbers to witness their children receive
awards. After the mellifluous rendition of the prayer and the impressive
dance style put forth by students, began the award ceremony. The
school, as usual, takes enormous pride in involving parents in school
activities. In that light, quite a few parents, PTA members, were
invited onto the dais to give away certificates and books to the
winners. One could never really guess who were more proud – the parents,
children or the teachers.
The second i.e the senior session saw Dr. Xavier, eminent Principal,
Navrachana College of Education, as the chief guest. After the senior
winners were honoured and rewarded for their excellent contribution in
academics and activities, Dr. Xavier delivered a wakening call to all
present. He urged the congregation to respect their children’s desires
and encourage them in the direction they are best suited. The event came
to a successful end with the rendition of the national anthem and
promises of anticipation of another fruitful year-in-waiting.
Teachers' Picnic
A Day of Rejuvenation
The school staff had a lovely day at ‘Vananchal Resort’, where time almost stood still amidst the luxuriant nature in all its glory and an alluring swimming pool. After almost traveling for an hour and a half; when the teachers reached the Resort, the sight of the shimmering, aquatic waters and the surrounding greenery dazzled their eyes. While some teachers shed their weariness by soaking in the tepid pool waters, others sought ‘nirvana’ by trekking amidst the welcoming greenery. Later, after several rounds of music, dancing and sumptuous nourishment, the teachers bid a sad goodbye to the place that took ‘care’ of their ‘cares’; at least for that day! Overall, a memorable and worthwhile time to experience!!
Valedictory 2010-11
Waving them goodbye…
‘Say goodbye with a smile, not with tears in the eye
For, though parting is painful, memories never die.’
This was the predominant mood at the Valedictory function for Std XII, when the Principal and staff gathered at Jyoti Grounds to join the Std XI students in giving a warm send-off to our school leavers, on 11th February, 2011. Adding a special touch to the occasion was the presence of the Chief Guest, Shri Anand Mohan Tiwari, Principal Secretary, Tribal Development Dept., Govt. of Gujarat.
The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolic, as always, of the brightness and positive energy we wish for every Vidyanian, wherever they go. This was followed by the nostalgia-soaked presentation ‘Yaadein’, when students took a trip down memory lane, recalling and reliving their momentous moments as students here. From the initial hesitant steps as kindergarten kids, to the self assured senior schools days, many experiences were shared and savoured.
Our Principal, Ms. Rekha Mishra and the Chief Guest, Mr. Tiwari, in
their speeches wished and hoped that the students do well, succeed and
achieve greater heights in all their future endeavours. It was then
the turn of the students to step up and speak about their reminiscences
of school life – colourful collage of experiences with the typical
laughter, tears and fears, anxieties and angst that are essential
ingredients in a student’s memory bank.
The solemnity of the ‘Tilak Ceremony’ lent its own impact to the
proceedings as the Std XII students were felicitated by Mr. Tiwari,
Rekha Ma’am, Sandhya Ma’am and the class teachers, with a prayer for a
bright future ahead, as their foreheads were anointed with a symbolic
‘tilak’. After this, they all took the school oath, promising to keep
alive the Vidyani spirit always, in thought, word and deed, wherever
they were. (Ms. Sonal Verma administered the oath.)
The school song, which rounded off the event, was sung with much gusto
and sentiment by everyone present after which the National Anthem was
sung. The sumptuous dinner was also appreciated and enjoyed unanimously.
We wish this year’s Std XII batch the very best – both for the Board Exams and for the bigger exam of life – may they always be proud of Vidyani and may Vidyani always be proud of them.
Sports Day 2010-11
A Date With Games
28 January 2011, Friday, was the date set, for the Vidyani sportsmen to prove their best. Frantic and speedy preparations were on in full swing as the school geared to equip itself for the annual sports meet. Rigorous practice sessions of the school band, march past contingents, the ‘athletic’ races continued in full vigour until the final day.
The D-day dawned bright and clear and the bright, colourful house flags perched on a higher level seemed to smile at the enthusiastic participants on the festively decorated school ground. The events started with the disciplined and smartly turned-out house contingents being lined up according the winning house as declared the previous year. The sports captain, handsomely upright on a well-trained horse led the parade and later escorted the esteemed chief guest Ms.Tejal Amin to inspect the contingents. The ‘hare and tortoise’, the official mascots for the meet, were seen stationed on the jeep which aided the chief guest during the rounds. After the sports meet torch was lit, the white balloons sailed off and the oath administered, it was time for the races as well as the scheduled events to begin.
The sports ground resounded with the thunderous applaud for the winners of the races while the parents and guests cheered heartily for the well-co-ordinated, beautifully synchronised callisthenic and flag drills members. Where on one side, the dare-devil stunts actually urged people to the edge of their seats, the astoundingly cute one-graders warmed every heart with their bicycling skills on the other side. The day ended with the prize winners being given standing rounds of ovation and the memory of the chief guest’s speech which lingered in very participants, especially non-winners’ hearts: ‘The beauty of every event, be it in sports or life skill, lies in the mere act of participating than in winning. In other words, it is participation that counts, more than winning.’
Concert 2010-11
A Musical Extravaganza
A day to await…a day to enjoy…a day to remember…., that is what this year’s Annual Concert was, at Navrachana Vidyani Vidyalaya. The evening of 18th December 2010, was a feast of melody, color and co-ordination that set the stage on fire and captured the hearts of the audience at the school grounds. Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest was Shri Sudesh Bhosale, the popular singer and mimic par excellence.
This year’s theme was ‘Sur, Taal se Laybaddh…Ye Kaynaat’ and the concert sought to explore the predominance of music in our lives in multifarious ways. Accordingly, the different compositions focused on different aspects of music. Example, the opening ballet portrayed how music initially entered man’s life on Earth. The presentation ‘Sane haath mati’ showed how music permeates our day-to-day tasks, transforming the mundane into the magical.
If ‘variety is the spice of life’: the songs said it all: some brought out the music in nature, one opined that those who don’t appreciate music are soulless and one which reminded us that music transcends all boundaries. There was even a presentation based on Khalil Gibran’s poetry. Each presentation spoke volumes about the talent and dedication of the performers and earned well deserved applause.
The performers in each case were in their element and put in their hundred percent to make each a visual treat. Their costumes, accessories, stage movements, co-ordination, all showed careful consideration to create the correct overall impact. The stage props and background scenes were also so well-matched and added to the magic of the mood, created by the presentation. The choreographers had ensured that close attention was paid to the facial expressions and body language of the dances, so that the result was total co-ordination and super synchronization. The group providing vocal accompaniment displayed an impeccable grasp of the technicalities of the musical compositions. Their smooth –as – silk voices let the golden notes overflow from the stage and as the air was suffused with melody, the audience was transported to a different world, each time.
The day was also special for the top rankers and outstanding performers in the Board Exams as they received their prizes and certificates from the Chief Guest. Their brilliant academic scores and performances earned them the honour of being publicly felicitated as they proved the truth of Edison’s formula, ‘Genius is 99% perspiration and only 1% inspiration.’ In his address, Sri Bhosale lauded the performers and their mentors and also exhorted young musical aspirants to steer clear of ‘reality shows’ and avoid ‘short-cuts’ to stardom.
He also gave a much applauded performance of mimicry bringing alive quite a few artists from the film and entertainment world.
The success of the show was a result of the joint effort of the entire Vidyani team and a major chunk of credit goes to our Principal, Mrs. Rekha Mishra for being a real pillar of support and encouragement.
The long hours of grueling rehearsals and patient guidance of the teachers paid off finally, as the grounds reverberated to spontaneous and thunderous applause after each presentation. Vidyani is indeed fortunate in having such incredible talent and we are sure many of them will make a mark in the music world, in future.
The last strains of music have faded away. But, the echoes and memories will continue to linger, for as Wordsworth said,
“The Music in my heart I bore,
Long after it was heard no more.”
'Fun' At The 'Fair'
5th Dec. 2010, Sunday, was a day to reckon with!! The much-awaited fun fest was scheduled for that brilliantly glorious evening. The fun for the fair, however, began since the small hours of the morning and even the school grounds [venue for the fair] seemed to enjoy the attention that serious as well as frolicking stall owners bestowed upon it! Rows upon rows of gaily decorated stalls complete with the co-ordinated theme of polkas and leheriyas adorned the venue.
Evening set in and along with the eager stall owners, early birds descended upon the fair. Wherever the eye could reach, one could see fascinating colours, mirrored awnings, colourful banners ornamenting the stalls. The adage ‘Variety is the spice of life’ definitely came true that eve. The choices that the stalls had to offer were simply enormous! Food stalls [where most of the crowd actually gathered] offered from the daily to the most innovative of eatables; in fact, the ‘cone bhel’ was simply out of this world. Games of almost all kinds attracted streams of eager, over-excited children. The ice-cream and cold drink arenas were busy to the hilt while swaying and hip-hopping people moved unanimously towards the DJ stall where the latest numbers kept people on their toes. Besides all of these, parents and visitors tried their luck at the ‘Tambola’ tent while the tiny tots enthusiastically posed for photographs besides their favourite cartoon characters. The fun-filled gala came to a quick end with the lucky ones winning the thematic best decorated stall / apparel / innovative food item among others. All in all, it was one of the most special and enjoyable evening in everyone’s life!!!
